For journalists and curious humans

The press kit

Everything you need to cover the grid: the pitch, the numbers, the angles, and a real human who answers email.

In 2005 a broke student sold a million pixels to pay off his degree. 21 years later an indie hacker who ships an app a week is rerunning the experiment in public, with perks and a live Dream Meter.

That is the whole pitch. Quote it verbatim, trim it, or email for a custom angle.

Story angles

Four ways in. All of them true.

The 21 year callback

In 2005 the Million Dollar Homepage sold a million pixels and became internet folklore. This is the 2026 rerun: the same million, one dollar a square, plus perks and a live meter the original never had.

Built in public, receipts included

The founder ships an app a week and posts every step. Every number on the site is real, every milestone gets filmed, and the Dream Meter carries a standing promise that it never lies.

The sealed goal

Goal 2 sits at 300,000 squares and its card reads only this: Sealed. Revealed at 150,000 squares. Nobody gets an early peek, and that includes the press. Yes, we know that makes it a better story.

The Angel Indie Hacker finale

At one million squares a $50,000 fund starts writing real angel checks to indie hackers, the grid freezes forever as a monument to everyone on it, and the final 1,000 squares go to auction.

Founder boilerplate

Jessyka is an indie hacker who ships an app a week and builds everything in public. She has shipped 27 apps and counting. In 2026 she launched The 1 Million Square Project, a rerun of the 2005 million pixel experiment: one million squares at one dollar each, where every purchase unlocks a real perk and moves a live Dream Meter of filmed life goals. She posts every step on X as @jessyka_boat.

Three lines from the founder, cleared for print.

One dollar buys a square. What it really buys is a front row seat to a very public set of dreams.
Jessyka, founder
The internet did this once in 2005 and never forgot it. I want to find out what happens when you run it again, with the cameras on.
Jessyka, founder
When the last square sells, the grid freezes forever and the money starts writing angel checks to indie hackers.
